Private Residence, Ruiru — Kiambu County

Kenya Residential 2025
Case Study

Project Overview

A private residence in Ruiru, Kiambu County, with a sculpted roof form and open-plan living spaces — architecture that gives building services very little room to hide. TechMEPi Engineering designed and installed the mechanical and plumbing scope so that every pipe run, fall and service route was resolved on drawings before it reached site.

Scope of work

  • Cold and hot water storage, reticulation and distribution to all wet areas
  • Sanitary drainage — soil, waste and vent design set out for quiet gravity discharge
  • External below-ground drainage, inspection chambers and the connection to the site network
  • Hot water generation and comfort systems to living and bedroom spaces

Coordinated around the architecture

Curved roof planes and long clear spans mean services cannot simply follow the walls. Routes, gradients and chamber positions were coordinated against the architectural and structural setting-out first, so the finished installation stayed concealed and the external drainage falls were achievable without re-cutting finished ground.

Water systems were sized to BS EN 806, above-ground drainage designed to BS EN 12056 and below-ground drainage to BS EN 752, then installed and tested under the supervision of a registered professional engineer.
